Extracurriculars

Cyber Team

Linux Lead CCDC, Team Captain NCL

I have been competing with the Baylor Cyber Team since my freshman year. We compete in multiple competitions like CCDC, NCL, and Hivestorm.

In NCL, I rank 23rd in the nation individually (14th among college students). I also lead our team in ranking 21st nationally (15th among colleges).

Cyber @ Baylor

Vice President

Separate from the team, friends and I founded a club to help create interest around the fields of cybersecurity. We hold events based around cybersecurity.

Check out our website (that I made)
Upsilon Pi Epsilon

Member

UPE is an honors society for exemplary computer science students. Membership is given to the top students of each class. I was given this honor my Sophomore year at Baylor.

Robotics Team

Lead Coder

In middle school, friends and I created our school's first robotics program to compete in First Tech Challenge. We had little resources and no experience, but we started learning and the robotics club is still going now that we left (and doing much better than we ever did).

Jobs

Reddit

Site Reliability Engineering Intern, Summer 2024

As my final internship, I worked with Reddit and their site reliability engineering team. I got to learn about distributed systems and microservices. I also complete projects related to SRE where I created solutions to increase reliability and reduce downtime. I also got to help design a system that helped teams take charge of their technical debt. Had a blast!

Technologies: Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Go, Docker, Postgresql, Microservices, bash

Tyson Foods

CICD Intern, Summer 2023

I was given the opportunity to work with Tyson Foods as my first software engineering internship! It was a great experience. Over the summer, I got to complete multiple projects relating to CICD and DevSecOps using many different technologies like AWS that I had never used in a job environment before.

Technologies: AWS, Typescript, bash, Gitlab, Python, Terraform, Hashicorp Vault, Serverless, Postgresql, Docker, Node.js, Okta API, Sonarqube

Baylor University

Cybersecurity Student Worker, Current

Along with my participation on the team, I also act as their manager. I produce practice material for multiple teams and create documentation and labs for future classes. I built automations that allow me to spin up unique computer systems so students can practice cybersecurity principles.

Technologies: VCenter, Terraform, VMWare, bash, Scoreboard, Linux, and whatever technology is needed that particular week.

Coding with Kids

Instructor, 2018-2020

During highschool and especially during Covid, I taught coding camps to kids (sometimes just a year or two younger than me). The camps were mostly focused on video game creation, but I always tried sneaking OOP concepts and other computer science into the lessons. I like to believe that I inspired at least one kid to pursue coding.

Technologies: C#, Java, Python, Lua, Scratch, Unity Engine

Portfolio

School

Study Buddies

Our software engineering project sponsored by Credera. We had to create a full-stack app using Next.js, React, Java Spring, and MySQL while following agile product development practices. We had weekly SCRUM meetings and everything. In the end, my team won first prize from a panel of judges from Credera. Our product was simple and accessible. We made every use case incredibly easy on the user, and I think that's what put us ahead.

Puzzle App

Our algorithms group project was to create an app where users could solve jigsaw puzzles. It used a custom wrapper around SDL that only allowed us to plot pixels on the screen. So I got to create custom image rendering to fit our needs. It was a unique problem and the end result worked very well for how scrappy the concept is.

Falling Balls

Our freshman intro project. Basically Breakout but it has more physics. Uses the same SDL wrapper that the puzzle app used. So I created my own polygon rendering and physics engine. A lot of fun to go all out and the game is enjoyable.

Baseball Database

Our databases group project. We developed a website to view a baseball database that we created using Lahman's data. A lot of sanitization had to go into it. We also created an interface for the user to interact with an LLM we named 'basebot' that interacted with the database and created statistics on behalf of the user.

Teams

Revisto - CS Journeys

CS Journeys was a small club of Computer Science students at Baylor that worked on various projects so that we could learn new technology. Revisto was a MERN webapp for online anonymous journaling. I started off as a cybersecurity consultant, but quickly started doing major portions of the backend and frontend due to my experience with the tech.

Nocrastinate - Wacode

Wacode is an annual hackathon in Waco, TX. I competed in it my freshman year. We created an app for organizing your life through tasks and schedules. We won first prize.

Cyber Website - Cyber @ Baylor

The public website for the Baylor @ Cyber club. It has a calendar and that's about it. But I've been working on SEO so it may just may pop up when you search Baylor Cyber. Helping that by linking it here.

Personal

Cyber Scoreboard

Over the past couple years, I have worked on a system to help my team and I to practice for the CCDC competition. The scoreboard they use is proprietary so its up to every team to make their own solution. I created mine as a project to learn the Rust programming language, and it has quickly grown to be a full re-creation of the scoreboard with a couple bonus features that improve on the original. It has now also been used by other students in classes and in research at Baylor.

Computer Science Upload Site

Baylor computer science uses their own website for uploading code and testing it. My freshman year I thought that it didn't look all that difficult to create. I developed a website that can be used to upload C++ code and test it against various challenges. The website checks if the code passed and will also check to make sure it passes Baylor's style guide. I have since gained an appreciation for some of the crazy stuff Baylor's site does, but mine is still pretty cool.

This Website

Made in a day Spring break of 2024. It's quite possible I haven't updated it since then. Made with HTML and Tailwind. It's clear I'm not a designer but I think it looks fine. It's even a bit responsive. You can still read it if you're on a phone.

Many Many Others

My hard drive corrupted, and I lost basically everything before freshman year of college. I've since learned to back things up. But these include many early web dev experiments like an online collaborative school board I called "school together". There are also many small or incomplete video games, some of them more impressive than others.
